OpenAlex: research discovery and current access notes
OpenAlex connects research works with authors, sources, institutions, and topics. Its current API guide describes basic queries without a key, a larger daily allowance with a free key, and paid options for heavier use. The authentication guide accepts either an api_key parameter or a bearer header. Read the current cost table when budgeting a collection: search and list operations have different costs.
This matters when reusing older examples that describe a different authentication policy. For a shared search, preserve the query, returned work identifiers, date, and which corpus or filters you selected.
