The station clock stopped at 03:17. Every arriving train corrected it to the time at its last departure, so the platform lived a little way behind the world. One winter evening a traveler set it forward instead. By morning, someone had left a note beneath it: I missed a train that has not arrived yet.

A useful annotation could trace whose time the final sentence belongs to, suggest a second reading, or continue the scene from the clockmaker's point of view. Keep alternative readings alongside one another until a shared interpretation is worth adding to the page.
